Offerings to the SBC Up 6.77 Percent
The Cooperative Program, the financial wing o the Southern Baptist Convention, reported an increase of 6.77 percent in year to date offerings and gifts as compared to 2003.
SBC Executive Committee President and Chief Executive Officer Morris H. Chapman announced that by Jan. 31, 2004, the CP received $65,371,980 - $4,143,136.31 ahead of the $61,228,843.78 received at this same point in 2003.
Designated giving of $39,329,713.11 for the same year-to-date period is 18.38 percent, or $6,107,174.13, above gifts of $33,222,538.98 received at this point in 2003. The $26,981,388.38 in designated gifts received last month is $3,892,565.34 above the $23,088,823.04 of January 2003, a 16.86 percent increase.

For the SBC Cooperative Program Allocation Budget, the year-to-date total of $65,371,980.09 is 107.57 percent of the $60,774,370.00 budgeted, or $4,597,610.09 above budget to support Southern Baptist ministries globally and across North America.
The Cooperative Program supports SBC missions and ministries both nationally and internationally. CP also funds the regional and state conventions of the SBC. While most of the CP total receipts come from designated offering movements including the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions, the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, state conventions, individuals and churches make significant offerings to the program as well.
