Oklahoma City Thunder NBA News, Rumors: MVP Kevin Durant Can't Palm a Ball

Kevin Durant is a shooting guard with a towering height of 6'9" and a wingspan of 7'4". Agility-wise, he can outmaneuver other elite players including LBJ.

The 26-year-old power forward can also easily pull-off a 3-point shot. But the reigning Thunder MVP admits an unexpected, shocking truth: he can't palm an NBA basketball. While it's hardly a news story, it surely does arrest the attention of hoop fans.

Oklahoma City Thunder writer Darnell Mayberry recently took to his social media to reveal what he learned about Durant.

"Most interesting thing I learned today: Kevin Durant cannot palm a basketball," he tweeted.

According to the report by Mayberry, Durant was repeatedly asked during his photo shoot sessions to grip a basketball with one hand and every time that happens, he "sheepishly" declined the request.

"Each time he was asked to grip the ball with one hand and pose for a picture, Durant quickly, and almost sheepishly, declined with that succinct explanation," Mayberry said.

The reporter's tweet spread like wildfire on the internet and soon, news aggregators came to get a share of the tidbits adding contradicting information that Durant can surely palm a ball.

In an investigation done by SBnation, they posted the young Kevin Durant's famous picture from high school, wearing a Montrose Christian jersey. Apparently, he was seen holding his arms out wide while palming not one, but two, basketballs, one for each hand.

Mayberry followed up the rumblings and went on to ask the player himself during their Thunder training camp.

"No, I can't," the star answered. "I can't. It's nothing I can control. You know? I don't know what else to say."

Regarding the Montrose Christian high school photo, the popular baller clarified, "there was no air in the balls."

"To be honest, I don't know why this is a story," Durant went on to say. "But, yeah, I can't palm a ball."
