'Once Upon a Time' Season 6 & 7 Rumors: New Season Reset Plan Still Pushing Through?

Should "Once Upon a Time" be renewed for a seventh season, it will be very different from the previous seasons. This is at least what ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey appears to be hinting at.

Executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis have said in the past that they are looking to hit the reset button in "Once Upon a Time" season 7. Dungey appears to be on board with that idea.

"Eddy and Adam came in and talked with me right before the holiday about what some of their potential ideas might be for season 7," the ABC executive told Deadline.

"There was some interesting stuff, we gave them some feedback, and they are now working and are going to come back and sit with me in a couple of weeks," she went on to say.

Dungey said that thanks to the background of the "Once Upon a Time" executive producers with "Lost," they are familiar with the passion of the fans for the fantasy series and the importance of wrapping up the series "in the right way."

However, at the moment, it looks like nothing is set in stone yet with regard to how "Once Upon a Time" will be handled after season 6, but she did have this to say.

"Regardless of what we decide to do at the end of this season, I think they think they would put a little bit of a bow here, and then there is a next piece that comes after that, so they are trying to figure out what that is and how that works," she explained.

Last year, Dungey told Entertainment Weekly that "Once Upon a Time" season 6 might end in a way that the new season will take a new direction.

Whether this new direction will entail a brand-new cast remains to be seen although she emphasized around that time that this might not be the case.

"Once Upon a Time" season 6 returns with its midseason premiere on Sunday, March 5 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
