'Once Upon a Time' season 5 spoilers & update: Merida and new characters revealed, 'Dreamcatcher' episode to bring back Neal?

Followers of "Once Upon a Time" are all aware of how Season Five is going to bring to life a villainous Emma (Jennifer Morrison) when she sacrificed herself to the darkness in the previous season. But her going to the dark side isn't the only one that fans that should look forward to as the first real promo for the fifth season of the ABC show definitely centered on Merida (Amy Manson) from Disney and Pixar's "Brave".

The 30-second promo kicked off with a quick recap of the show featuring characters like Queen Elsa, Peter Pan and the Wicked Witch who appeared in some of the episodes from the four seasons. Then it revealed Merida, the "bravest of warriors", who is said to be joining King Arthur's knights and presumed to be helping the heroes in continuing the fight with evil. A quick glimpse of the Dark Swan was also shown.

According to Entertainment Weekly, co-executive producer/co-creator Adam Horowitz said that the fans get to meet Merida after the events of the movie. "We're going to give you a little taste of where she's been since then, what's happened to her since the end of that movie, and then we're going to see that that somehow crosses with our people and with our 'Once Upon a Time' mythology," he revealed.

The season premiere will involve a lot of Merida and what she will do for Camelot. Aside from the redhead princess, there are also other new characters that will be joining the show as reported by Pop Sugar. The list includes King Arthur (Liam Garrigan), Guinevere (Joana Metrass), Merlin (Elliot Knight), Lancelot (Sinqua Walls), and Percival (Andrew Jenkins).

The spoilers doesn't stop there as just recently, Horowitz posted a photo on Twitter spoiling fans of an episode titled "Dreamcatcher" which they immediately concluded the return of Neal. However, co-creator Edward Kitsis responded that even though the name does suggest that the episode is linked to Neal, season five will focus on Emma, as noted by Yibada. And besides, dreamcatchers have been used on the show magically.

"Once Upon a Time" is set to premiere its first episode, "The Dark Swan," on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
