'Once Upon A Time' Spoilers, Plot News: Is Robin Hood Somehow Related to Merida?

Fans might already know that the fifth season of ABC's hit fantasy TV drama series "Once Upon A Time" will be introducing Pixar's character, Merida, into the storyline.

During the show's panel last month at the San Diego Comic-Con International event, a special sneak peek was shown and it featured the recognizable red-haired heroine doing her target practice. The character, who was originally featured in the 2012 3D film, "Brave," was then seen displaying her exceptional archery skills by hitting the mark once again, splitting the first arrow in the process.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Edward Kitsis said that he's pretty much sure viewers will love the newcomer.

"If she's not your favorite new character this year, I won't know what to say. She's a lot of fun," the EP said (via EW).

"It's a character Eddy and I have loved since the movie came out. We're very excited to include her in the show," co-showrunner Adam Horowitz chimed in (via EW).

Meanwhile, a new TV scoop item from TV Line's Michael Ausiello answered one of the fans' questions if Robin Hood will be of any relation to the Scottish-born princess.

Quoting the words of Kitsis, TV Line said that "Robin does not have connection to Merida." However, the male marksman "will interact with her" in some capacity.

Earlier rumors indicated that the feisty archer is the unborn child of Zelena and Hood. Horowitz was quick to debunk the theories.

"It's just a fun theory, but the reality is we are sticking to the canon of the movie 'Brave' in terms of who her parents are and where she came from, but post-movie is where our 'Once Upon a Time' spin comes into play," the EP said (via EW).

"Once Upon A Time" Season 5 premieres with the episode titled "The Dark Swan" which will air on September 27 on ABC.
