'One Piece' Chapter 882 Rumors: Luffy to Defeat Katakuri Through Awakening

After learning that his friends are safe, Luffy is expected to become even more determined to defeat Katakuri in the upcoming "One Piece" chapter 882. However, it remains unclear what technique the leader of the Straw Hats pirates will employ to ensure his victory over one of Big Mom's Sweet Commanders.

Things are definitely heating up in "One Piece" after the previously released chapter 881. To recall, the already released chapter featured Jinbe saving the day by steering the Thousand Sunny towards the tsunami Big Mom created. While Big Mom thought that those aboard the ship already met their demise, she and her crew failed to see that, because of Jinbe's act, the Thousand Sunny rode the tsunami-like a surfboard as it took advantage of the wave's green room.

However, the recently released chapter also featured Luffy crashing the last piece of broken mirror, which means that his communication with Nami has been cut off. While Luffy displayed a satisfied look, it was shortly followed by a look of sheer determination as he told Brulee that he will never die inside Brulee's mirror world.

While it is apparent that Luffy has become more determined to defeat one of Big Mom's Sweet Commanders, sources still cannot see eye to eye on how he will do it. For some, the only way for Luffy to defeat Katakuri is to experience the awakening, which will increase his powers drastically. However, it remains unclear how this mechanism can be triggered.

On the other hand, some opine that it is possible for Luffy to develop the Gear 5 technique. However, some believe that it may be too soon for Luffy to develop the said ability. Hence, it is said that it is more likely for the leader of the Straw Hats leader to develop a new technique using his Gear 4 that will be effective against Katakuri's mochi-based attacks.

Nonetheless, some believe that the likeliest way for Luffy to defeat Katakuri is by discovering his weakness. While Cracker's biscuit soldiers weakened when water was used against them, it is now suspected that Katakuri's mochi-based attacks can be weakened by fire.

Can Luffy really defeat Katakuri? If yes, how will he bring him down?

Find out when "One Piece" chapter 882 hits the store shelves on October 23.
