"One Punch Man" Season 2 Has Been Greenlit

It was recently announced this week that "One Punch Man" season 2 is happening soon.

The season 2 of "One Punch Man" is slated for a 2017 release but there is no exact date of when it is yet. There were details released regardiing "One Punch Man" in Japan, but there has been no definitive air date given. A promotional poster of the main character Saitama has also been revealed following the announcement.

According to Anime News Network, the season 2 announcement of "One Punch Man" was made by the staff and cast of the anime adaptation and manga crew during the "One Punch Man" event last Sunday.

"One Punch Man" season 1 first aired in Japan last October 2015 and it was published by Madhouse. The anime adaptation has 12 episodes and the English dub first aired on July 2016 for the West. The anime stars Saitama, the bald protagonist who earned the title "One Punch Man" as he is considered to be powerful enough to defeat his enemies with only a single punch.

There aren't any official details for "One Punch Man" season 2, but according to rumors there will be one villain who will be able to survive Saitama's powerful punch which causes him to lose for the first time in his hero career. For whomever this character is remains to be seen.

According to International Business Times, Amai Mask and Garou will work together to bring down the "One Punch Man" hero in the next season. Genos, who installed himself as Saitama's sidekick in the first season is said to separate from him to take on a new path. There were rumors that it may be Genos who will be the one to survive Saitama's punch as he has been through his side for many times and have trained countlessly together. He would know Saitama's own strength enough to defeat him.

In the last season of "One Punch Man," Saitama faced off with Lord Boros but ultimately defeated him with his signature move. However, it was revealed that Lord Boros actually survived and it is rumored that he may be coming back in season 2. It is not known what kind of role Lord Boros will have in season 2.

Furthermore, Saitama may be having his own love story in the next season of "One Punch Man" as it has been teased that he will be having a love interest. There is no recent info of who the girl might be.

There has been no official announcement regarding the details of "One Punch Man" season 2 as of this writing. However, Comic Book noted that the studio behind the anime will be releasing more info about the upcoming anime soon.
