OnePlus 2 News, Update: Reddit AMA Session Reveals Next-Gen Smartphone's Bigger Battery
With just days before its grand unveiling, the hype for the launching of OnePlus' upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 2 has grown even more intense as new updates from the company arrive this week.
On Thursday, select members of the Chinese company took Reddit by storm when they hosted an AMA session. The event dropped a handful of new details about what to expect when the OnePlus 2 is formally revealed.
Among the number of updates shared on the forum is the confirmation that the successor of the first "Flagship Killer" will have a 3,300 mAh battery pack, which is almost 10 percent increase from the OnePlus One's 3,100 mAh capacity.
The OnePlus team is also putting a big priority on enhancing the new smartphone's camera specs which according to earlier leaks will have a 16MP rear and 5MP front snapper.
The Q&A portion meanwhile debunked speculations that the device will arrive with a heart rate sensor. The representatives went on to clarify that the confirmed fingerprint recognition feature won't be integrated into the touchscreen. The tool will instead have an actual separate physical sensor, just like what Apple and Samsung have in their respective flagships.
As for the talks about the different versions of the phone, it was found out that indeed, it will have three variants. It was previously speculated to be called A2001, A2003, and A2005.
One version will be sold exclusively for China while the other two will hit the international markets. One of which will be for North America. It is said to work on GSM 850, 900, 1800, and 1900MHz, WCDMA bands 1/2/4/5/8, and FDD-LTE bands 1/2/4/5/7/8/12/17. The other one for Europe/Asia market will support GSM 850, 900, 1800, and 1900MHz, WCDMA bands 1/2/5/8, and FDD-LTE bands 1/3/5/7/8/20.
More details about the upcoming smartphone will be revealed during the official OnePlus 2 launching which will take place this July 27 at 7 PM PT/10 PM ET via a livestream event.
