OnePlus 2 Release Coming July 27, But Will Take Place in 'Virtual Reality'

The OnePlus 2 is one of the most awaited handsets for Android fans mainly because they are wondering whether the Chinese manufacturer will be able to do it the right way this time around.

Last year, in spite of the launch of an impressive marketing campaign and ads for its first ever smartphone, the OnePlus One, its shipping and sales department failed miserably, leaving thousands of interested buyers disappointed.

While the device hit the 1 million sold units mark before 2014 ended, the performance was way below expectations.

However, for the upcoming OnePlus 2, the startup phone maker is definitely bringing its A-game. In a report by GSM Arena, the phone company will announce the handset on July 27, but in a different setup.

Based on the report, the device will be unveiled via a virtual reality device that OnePlus specially designed for the job. Made out of mere cardboard and other materials, the device will be able to showcase the OnePlus 2, together with the team that worked on it.

In addition, the VR headset will also enable the viewer to "look around" and check out the smartphone in a unique way. While we still have no idea how this will work out, it is definitely a new and cool way to promote the announcement date of the upcoming device.

As successor to the original "flagship killer," the OnePlus 2 will allegedly come with 5.5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 3GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 810 chipset, either a 16GB or 64GB built-in memory, a 16MP primary camera, 5MP front shooter, a 3,300mAh battery, and Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box skinned by Oxygen OS.

However, what's more interesting about the device is that it would reportedly get a similar price tag in spite of its vast improvements.
