OnePlus 5 To Be Launched Q2/Q3 2017
Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus may be releasing its newest flagship second or third quarter of the year.
According to Know Your Mobile, OnePlus 5 will likely get a Q2 or Q3 launch, considering the company's previous product releases. Since the debut of its first flagship smartphone, OnePlus has steadily introduced one device a year, and it looks like it will follow the same schedule this 2017.
The OnePlus franchise has been getting loyal followers with its cheaper and reliable smartphones. Some of the upgrades expected in the upcoming device include more advanced software and display technology. There are even talks of QHD panels and curve-edged displays.

Gizbot posits that the OnePlus 5 will come with a 5.5-inch dual-curved edge AMOLED display, packed with a FHD 1080p resolution. Since the last device already comes with a 6GB RAM, a 64GB or 128GB one is expected. There are also speculations that the phone will feature an all-glass design. Some claim that it will come with a ceramic body. The OnePlus 5 is also rumored to have an IP68 rating, making it waterproof and dust resistant. It may come with 12MP front and 23 MP back cameras.
In a January interview with Live Mint, OnePlus founder Pete Lau talked about their way of dealing with the competition. According to him, it was necessary for the company to focus on just one flagship a year and make sure it will be the best they can offer.
"Focus is the best way. Other brands make 10 different models a year. But if you create 10 different models, how can you be focused on creating the best possible product every year? When I go to sleep, I only think of my one next product. It's difficult for others to compete with that. The camera has to be the best, the battery has to be the best, the smoothness and the system has to be the best—if these three are the pain points, then our products have to be the best in these areas," Lau said.
