OnePlus 5 Rumors: Possible Specs of New Smartphone Emerge Online, Point to a Powerful Device Coming Soon

Reason for why new smartphone may be known as the OnePlus 5 and not the OnePlus 4 also provided

The follow-up to 2016's OnePlus 3 is widely expected to be released at some point this year, and according to some of the latest rumblings, the smartphone that may eventually be known as the OnePlus 5 could be quite the powerhouse.

First off, rumors are hinting that the new smartphone's cameras could be particularly impressive.

According to a recent report from Phone Radar that took note of the many rumors swirling around this new smartphone, it could come equipped with a 23-megapixel primary camera and that may be paired up with one up front that provides 16 megapixels.

Memory could be yet another area in which the new flagship offering from OnePlus could shine, with rumors hinting that it will come with no less than 6GB of RAM and that it may even feature as much as 8GB of RAM.

Changes to the display of this new smartphone may be coming as well.

People may also be wondering why this rumored device is being called the OnePlus 5, even though last year's offering was the OnePlus 3.

An earlier report from Android Headlines could have the answer for that question. The report notes that the number 4 is regarded as somewhat unlucky in Chinese culture, and that could be part of the reason why this new device will skip a number.

One more thing, even though rumors are already starting to point to what this new smartphone will feature, people may still have to wait a while before they get the official details.

The OnePlus 3 was officially launched back in June of last year, while the OnePlus 2 was revealed in July 2015.

Recent history seems to suggest that a middle of the year launch could also be held for the OnePlus 5, so folks who are interested in this device may want to stay glued to the news around that time.
