Oprah Winfrey Gospel Brunch: What Is It? Which Stars Attended?
Oprah Winfrey hosted a gospel brunch at her house in Montecito, California one weekend and it was a star-studded affair. But what was the gospel brunch about and which stars were there?
Winfrey invited her celebrity friends and members of the press to her house for the launch of her new book, "The Wisdom of Sundays." It's a compilation of stories, photos, and insights from various guests that the TV host interviewed from her series "Super Soul Sunday," which airs on OWN.
The book also has a gospel section to emphasize on the Hollywood icon's spiritual devotion. She hopes that her guests will be instrumental in spreading the word about the uplifting stories in her book.

"Whenever I really believe that something I'm doing is going to be impactful, I try to put everything I have into making that possible," Winfrey revealed. "Bringing people to my home is what I decided to do."
Among those who came to the gospel brunch were Jon Bon Jovi, Alicia Keys, Mindy Kaling, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Julia Roberts, Shonda Rhimes, Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington. Studio heads like Ted Sarandos and George Lucas also joined the affair, which had around 250 people.
Aside from the food and wine that chef Art Smith and Colin Cowie put together, guests were also treated to gospel songs from performers like Andra Day, Common, Yolanda Adams, Erica Campbell and Emily David. Winfrey also invited writers to her gospel brunch to discuss why she came up with the book. She also read a few passages out loud.
"My goal [is] to get people to see that for themselves," Winfrey said. "It's miraculous when you can do it."
Proceeds from the book sales will go to the causes that Winfrey supports including the Leadership Academy for Girls. "The Wisdom of Sundays" is already on store shelves as of Tuesday, Oct. 17.
