For instance, on her 40th birthday in 1994, Winfrey was surprised on her own show by Patti LaBelle and Aretha Franklin. Her partner Stedman Graham and best friend Gayle King also joined the celebration.

Then, 10 years later when the media mogul turned 50-years-old, John Travolta and Tina Turner appeared on the "Oprah Winfrey Show" before an extravagant birthday party was thrown in her honor.

"It was the most glamorous, elegant, fabulous thing anybody had ever seen," Winfrey said the morning after the birthday celebration, according to Entertainment Tonight.

More recently, Winfrey offered a personal account of what took place on her 58th birthday last year with a post on Oprah.com. Read about it here.

Meanwhile, the TV icon has already began preparations for her 60th birthday celebrations, and is set to cover O magazine's January 2014 issue in honor of the big day.

The birthday girl appears on the cover in a gold fitted gown featuring floral designs, and inside the magazine, Winfrey opened up about entering her 60's.

"I'm alive. Healthy. Strong. I'm turning 60," said Winfrey, according to GossipCop. "And- please don't take offense- I no longer have to be concerned about what anyone thinks of me! I'm turning 60, and I've earned the right to be just as I am. I'm more secure in being myself than I've ever been."

Furthermore, Winfrey reflected on all the struggles endured over the course of her 60 years and shared what she felt were her biggest accomplishments.

"Never shutting my heart down," the former talk show host said, according to GossipCop. "Even in my darkest moments- through sexual abuse, a pregnancy at 14, lies and betrayals- I remained faithful, hopeful, and open to seeing the best in people, regardless of whether they were showing me their worst."

Nevertheless, Winfrey did not reveal plans for a 60th birthday party.
