'Orange Is The New Black' Season 4 Release Date: Netflix Series To Return In June; Creator Teases Season 4

Fans of the popular comedy-drama series "Orange Is The New Black" should mark their calendars now. Netflix has finally revealed that one of its most-watched series will be returning for its fourth run in June.

The streaming service made the official announcement at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, which concluded last month. According to Netflix, fans should get ready to spend another summer with the inmates at Litchfield Penitentiary, as Season 4 drops on Friday, June 17, at 12 a.m. PT (3 a.m. Eastern).

Along with the announcement, Netflix released a short promo video to give viewers a glimpse of what's ahead. Though the clip did not reveal a lot about Season 4, it did show that new cast members will join the regular cast of "Orange Is The New Black" when the series returns.

The much-anticipated fourth season of "OITNB" is expected to answer the various cliffhangers left during the Season 3 finale. But it looks like the cast and crew of the series are intent on keeping things under wraps until the new season airs. E! News recently caught up with "Orange Is The New Black" creator Jenji Kohan and several series regulars and the group was decidedly tight-lipped about Season 4.

Kohan did tease the forthcoming season a bit, telling the website, "The theme thing was hard this year." "Sometimes we start with political agendas, the corporatization of the prison, the stratification of the people into their little mosaic pieces within the prison," she explained.

"I can't tell you much more than that because we want it to be a surprise but all the fun stuff like race and hate and some things from current events that we want to sort of filter through our lens," she revealed. "But I'm just going to be vague about it."

"OITNB" star Samira Wiley gave her two cents, telling E!, "It feels like we've got something really, really different than what we've put out before with this coming season."

"Orange Is The New Black" Season 4 premieres on Friday, June 17, at 12 a.m. PT (3 a.m. Eastern) on Netflix.
