Detroit lost eight straight games to open their season in a demoralizing style. However, they finally claimed their first win of the season in their last game, winning against the Philadelphia 76ers by a score of 94-76. They will want to ensure that win wasn't just a flash in the pan and will be desperate to string a few wins together by beating the Magic tonight.

If they are to succeed in that the 1-8 Pistons will have to put on another strong defensive performance, which was the cornerstone of their win against the 76ers. Philadelphia were only about to record 29.8 percent from their shooting from the field, and a similar performance by the Pistons tonight should give them a chance. In that last game the Pistons also outrebounded the 76ers by a score of 57-38, with a total of 18 rebounds coming from Greg Monroe.

Orlando Magic are having problems of their own however, and come into this match up with a poor record of just 2-5. They oppositely started off the season well with two straight wins, but since then it has all been downhill and they have gone on to now lose five straight games. They too will be desperate to break that losing streak tonight, and will see the struggling Pistons as potentially the perfect antidote for their losing habit.

The Magic should get starting point guard Jameer Nelson back for tonight's game, after he missed out on the Magic's last six games with a groin strain.

If the Magic are to win this game and break their losing streak they will have to produce a much stronger offensive performance. In their last four games they have averaged just 76.5 points per game, which is not really enough to beat anyone.
