'Orphan Black' Season 3 Finale Recap, News: Executive Producers Speaks Up About Delphine's Fate and A New Biotech Element
Spoiler alert for those who haven't seen the finale of "Orphan Black" Season 3 titled "History Yet to Be Written," the episode ended with a major cliff-hanger that saw Delphine (Evelyne Brochu) getting fatally shot in what appears to be, a horrifying encounter with Dr. Nealon (Tom McCamus).
As expected, fans are wondering if the next season will find the doctor buried 6 feet under the ground or not.
"I don't know. Did you see her die?" executive producer Graeme Manson told TV Line.
"For us, I believe this is a horrible thing that had to happen. And I know that it's hard and I know that it's emotional and I know there are going to be a lot of people out there going 'WHY?!?' But trust me, this was a necessary move to make. And its necessary in Cosima's story and it's necessary going forward in subsequent seasons—in season 4 and season 5," series co-creator John Fawcett meanwhile informed Entertainment Weekly about the issue.
When asked about the identity of the person who shot her, Fawcett opted not to disclose the information.
In the same vein, the show bosses were asked about the worm-like thing that Dr. Nealon tried to insert into Delphine.
"It's the expansion of the body-horror motifs that we really like in Orphan Black. Dr. Nealon said the tech is beyond whatever you believe. We're opening up a little window into some interesting biotech elements in our next season," Manson said.
Fawcett also said in the separate interview with Entertainment Weekly that it's something that followers of the show would need to find out in Season 4.
He did, however, tease some details about the upcoming chapter.
"I want from season four a vibe of season one again. I want a lot of that paranoia back, and Sarah [Tatiana Maslany] following a first-person mystery, and a feeling of not knowing where we stand again, and having the audience not know where we stand," he said.
