OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 Beta Download Now Available to Developers

The OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 beta is now available for developers. Apple seeded it earlier this week and requested that those testing the software should focus on Mail, Graphics Drivers and Voice Over.

Apple also released an Mail update earlier this month for Mavericks 1.0 that is designed to enhance its compatibility with Gmail accounts and also bring several other improvements to the software overall.

It fixes an issue that prevents deleting, moving, and archiving messages for users with custom Gmail settings, and addressed an issue that could cause unread counts to be inaccurate. It also includes additional fixes that improve the compatibility and stability of Mail.

The official OS Mavericks update was released by Apple last month for free. It was rolled out around the same time as the new iPad Air and iPad mini with retina.

OS X Mavericks is compatible with iMac and MacBook Pros from 2007 or later, 2008 MacBook Air, MacBook, and Mac Pro or later, and the 2009 Mac mini or later.

Apple designed OS X Mavericks similar to iOS 7 as both will feature close to the same appearance. iOS 7 rolled out to mobile device users last month.

The company first introduced its new computer software at its World Wide Developers Conference back in June. It includes over 200 new features such as iBooks, improved multiple display support, iCloud Keychain, new Finder features, Maps, quick reply and lock screen notifications, auto-updating apps, and many other enhancements to improve battery life and performance.

Apple's last major update for its computers rolled out around this same time last year with OS X Mountain Lion. That version brought some of iOS 6's best features to the computers.
