'Outlander' Season 2 News, Update: Graham McTavish Teases A 'Complicated' Dougal; Audition Tapes for Brianna Role Surfaced Online

One of the most interesting characters in Starz's hit adventure and fantasy drama TV series "Outlander," Dougal MacKenzie (Graham McTavish) is about to get even more complicated for fans to understand in Season 2. Meanwhile, news of audition tapes for the role of Brianna surfaced online.

An unpredictable fellow, that's what the War Chieftain of the Clan MacKenzie and the uncle to Jamie (Sam Heughan) is in Season 1. On one side he is seen as a caring head of the family while on the other, as a manipulative, power hungry, and ambitious person capable of doing unimaginable things.

During his appearance at the Fan Expo over the weekend, McTavish explained even further (via Enstarz.com) why his character can't that be easily regarded as a hero or a villain.

"He's a great character because he is complicated. He is manipulative and has his own agenda - to restore the Stewart monarchy - but he also has this love for Jaime - even while he's plotting to kill him, he saves him," the 54-year-old actor said (via Enstars). "He's also capable of great compassion."

Meanwhile, a slew of audition tapes of actors looking to play the part of Brianna have emerged online.

Via International Business Times, the footages were seen posted over on Vimeo and it featured the hopefuls re-enacting scenes from Diana Gabaldon's (the author of the novel series to which the series is based from) book particularly on the part where the character shares how Jamie wore a hat to conceal his true identity from the British soldiers. There are also scenes done by the actors wherein Brianna and Claire (Caitrona Balfe) were talking.

It remains to be seen if the show has already picked the actor for the part. She was described, in earlier casting reports, as "strong-minded, intelligent beyond her years with an effortless charm and sparking sense of humor – traits inherited from both her mother and father."

Filming for "Outlander" Season 2 is currently undergoing and set to kick off on Starz by 2016. Stay tuned for more updates.
