"Overwatch" is Free For a Limited Time on PS4, Xbox One

For those who haven't played the competitive shooter game, "Overwatch," this weekend is a chance to play it for free.

Blizzard has announced that there will be a free "Overwatch" play event this weekend. However, this is only limited to PS4 and Xbox One consoles. Players may download "Overwatch" for free starting today until Monday, Sept. 12, 4PM PT.

It was announced in the official "Overwatch" website that the game will be free starting Sep. 9 until the 12th. However, the free game will only be limited to consoles, specifically on the PS4 and the Xbox One. Sadly, Xbox One users must have Xbox Live Gold Memberships to be able to play the game.

How to Install Free 'Overwatch' on PS4, Xbox One
PS4 players will need to go to the PlayStation Store to search for "Overwatch". To download the free version, they will need to download the "Overwatch Free Weekend" option. The free "Overwatch" download file is 9GB for PS4. Once downloaded, it can be installed and once done, PS4 players can begin playing the game.

For Xbox One players with Xbox Live Gold Memberships, they need to log in to their account and head on over to the Xbox One Store. Search for "Overwatch" and select the "Overwatch: Origins Editions", then click the "Free Trial". The free "Overwatch" download file is 15GB for Xbox One. Once the free version of "Overwatch" has been downloaded and installed, Xbox One players may begin playing.

The free "Overwatch" event has begun today since 11AM PT and will end by Sept. 12, 4PM PT. At the end of the free "Overwatch" event, gamers will have a chance to keep all the loot and game progression should they decide to buy the game and continue playing it, Forbes noted. All 22 heroes and maps, including the recent Eichenwalde, will be playable during the entire event. Those who may end up not liking the game have the option to not purchase it.

'Overwatch' Discount During Free Game Weekend

The "Overwatch" game can be purchased at $50, according to the official website and other participating retailers until September 17. Best Buy will also be selling the same deal. Gamers Club Unlocked members get an additional $10 off too during that duration, according to Game Spot.
