'Overwatch' Rumors: Director Jeff Kaplan Comments on New Hero Speculation, Hints That a Surprise Could Be in the Works

Next character added to 'Overwatch' may not turn out to be Doomfist

For a while now, fans have been talking about Doomfist being added to "Overwatch," to the point that it almost seemed guaranteed that this mysterious character would be the next roster addition. However, that may not turn out to be the case after all.

Game director Jeff Kaplan recently jumped into a discussion concerning the game's next hero over on the official forums, and he threw fans a big curveball.

In response to a player looking to learn more about the identities of the heroes that the developers are currently working on, Kaplan didn't supply the names requested for, though he did offer something else.

According to Kaplan, the next hero coming to the game "is not who you think it is."

That response from Kaplan is quite the revelation and it certainly seems to suggest that fans may want to hold off on reserving that next character spot for the aforementioned Doomfist.

This hint from Kaplan also serves to bring up another important question. If Doomfist isn't the next character coming to "Overwatch," then who is?

A recent report from PVP Live is putting forth a possible answer for this question. In the report, a reference found on the website of actor Alex Malaos was pointed to as a potential clue related to the next character.

The entry of interest found on the site references a "Greek" character, but no description beyond that was provided.

Again, there's no guarantee that this "Greek" character will be the next one to be added to the game's roster as it looks like developers are trying harder to keep important revelations such as that under wraps as much as they can ahead of their official announcements.

More news about who may end up being the next hero added to "Overwatch" should be made available soon.
