'Overwatch' to Be More Social: Blizzard Entertainment Brings New Feature for Facebook Login

Blizzard Partners with Facebook for a Social Approach in Gaming

Blizzard Entertainment, makers of "Overwatch," have partnered up with Facebook to make "Overwatch" a more social game. Facebook will allow Battle.net games to see the Facebook Login and Live applications interface. This will boost the exposure of the game, as seven million players are expected to use the new feature when it releases.

Leo Olebe, the Director of Global Games Partnerships at Facebook, revealed his excitement towards the game.

He said as quoted by Venture Beat, "It's now exciting that Facebook Login and Facebook Live are now a part of Battle.net. So for any Blizzard game, and Overwatch is the newest, you can use Facebook Login to connect with friends better and do social gaming."

Olebe also explained that this is an endeavour they have been working on for months. He said, "The most important thing was to build something that is incredible for people, and Blizzard is always amazing at that. They had to really get behind this."

The new feature will bring a more social approach to "Overwatch." This means that the Blizzard game will now use Facebook as a way of sharing, viewing and discussing the game's content. This will also allow for easier verification and enable the player's real-world identity. Many Battle.net games are expected to boast the same Facebook feature later this month.

It will be possible for "World of Warcraft," "Heroes of the Storm," "Hearthstone," "Diablo III," "StarCraft II" and "Overwatch. Gio Hunt, the Executive Vice President of Corporate Operations at Blizzard Entertainment, stated that their efforts to bring Blizzard game is in line with their vision of providing players with "features and services that make it easy and fun to share their experiences with each other."

Aside from the Facebook feature, the partnership of Blizzard Entertainment and Facebook is presented through several livestreams by Blizzard on Facebook. Blizzard Entertainment recently filmed a series of streams that focused on "Heroes of the Dorm."

In addition, Facebook is hosting a gaming summit later this week to bring developers from around the world. Facebook users and gamers can expect a lot of new features ahead.
