Parents of Murdered NYC Kids Speak Out; Start Cross-Country Journey of Healing
Kevin and Marina Krim are finally speaking out about the tragic murders of their children, Leo and Lucia, and about their lives with surviving daughter, Nessie. The couple has taken on a cross-county road trip to raise funds in their children's memory.
"Marina and I couldn't be more proud of her – she is very smart, beautiful and tough. And she's grown so much over the past two months. She saves us every day," Kevin posted on the Lulu & Leo Fund Facebook page. The family has used the page to help raise money for children's education and enrichment programs.
"We are hopeful that 2013 will be a year of healing, growth and peace," Kevin added.

It's only been a few months since Leo, 2, and Lucia, 6, were murdered by their nanny, Yoselyn Ortega. Marina was out with daughter Nessie at the time and returned home to find her children dead and their nanny barely alive, having slit her own throat in a suicide attempt.
The Krim family never returned to their Upper West Side home but instead moved to California. Now, though, they are returning to New York via a cross-country trip that they will continually blog about.
"Today, we are leaving on an RV trip with some friends to cross the country from LA back to NYC. Along the way, we are hoping to experience some inspiring moments that will help us with our healing and rebuilding when we get back to NYC. We'll share some of those images and stories along the way," Kevin and Marina posted.
The travelers are stopping at places they believe "Lulu and Leo" would have loved, posting photos of what they see and how they are feeling throughout the experience. It's a major step on the long journey of healing for a family that lost so much.
Yoselyn Ortega pleaded not guilty to the children's murder; she is currently being held in a prison hospital.
