Passion Refuels Collegiate Leaders for Purposeful Mission

Passion Conferences is presenting Thirsty 07 on Wednesday for college pastors and campus ministry leaders who need to rethink, refuel and refocus.

As the school year winds down, Passion has called leaders in the collegiate setting to Alpharetta, Ga., for three days of practical insight, a space to breathe deeply, and a time to remember what their calling is all about.

"For students to leverage their lives for something greater than themselves requires great leadership ... leaders who are sold more on His Kingdom than on theirs," conference organizers stated on the Thirsty website.

But leading isn't easy, so Thirsty 07 is gathering campus leaders from around the world to help them lead more purposefully and reconnect with the mission they have been called to.

The collegiate leaders conference, scheduled for May 2-4, comes months after Passion drew 22,000 college students from 33 countries to Atlanta for its annual conference. There, Passion founder Louie Giglio launched a global initiative – Do Something Now campaign – to give students a chance to extend their reach to people groups across the globe.

Outreaches included the purchase of 38 water wells in Africa to provide clean water and help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and 100 sponsors committed to fund surgeries for children in South/Central America.

The campaign leads up to next year's Passion tour which goes global for the first time. Rather than one large conference at one venue, Giglio hopes to take the conference to about 20 cities around the world in addition to seven regional events in the United States beginning this coming winter.

Thirsty 07 features such speakers as Giglio; Francis Chan, teaching pastor at Cornerstone Community Church in Simi Valley, Calif.; and Andy Stanley, pastor of North Point Community Church in Alpharetta.

Worship artists include Passion regulars from the sixsteps record label such as Chris Tomlin, who recently nabbed six Dove Awards, and the David Crowder Band.
