A Peruvian pastor has been shot to death inside an evangelical church in Lima, Peru, after an attempted robbery during a Sunday service last weekend.

Elisa Rosa Gómez Guzmán, 50, the pastor of evangelical church El Shaddai, Condevilla San Martín, in Lima, was approached by a shooter in front of the church congregants.

According to media reports, the killer arrived on a motorcycle along with three other men around 8:30 p.m. The suspects stormed into the church demanding the tithe and offerings from Goméz, who refused to hand them over.

When the gunmen were unable to get the money from the church pastor, one of the men shot her twice in her abdomen. She was taken to the hospital but was later pronounced dead from her wounds.

After the act of the crime, the suspects escaped through Universitaria Avenue, one of the main avenues in Lima.

The Peruvian police investigation is still ongoing. Media reports revealed that the religious leader had a son who was in prison. However, there is no proof that he had any connection with the crime.
