For the 2006 National Pastors Convention put on by Zondervan Publishers, two new tracks were announced in keeping with the rise of women and the younger generations that has been noticed in the church.

Both the “Emerging church” and the “Women in Ministry” tracks have been of interest to Christians in recent years.

For the Emerging church track, a pre-convention Critical Concerns Course, 10 seminars, and a late night discussion give participants a wide variety of opportunities to choose from.

The full title of the track is, “The Emerging Church: Theology and Practice, Multiple Perspectives on the Issues,” and featured speakers are John Burke, Dan Kimball, Doug Pagitt, Tony Jones, Scot McKnight, LeRon Shults, and Ryan Bolger.

"The Emerging Church" has exploded on the church scene over the past few years. Opinions on its definition range from being a movement to solely a conversation. The conference will take an in-depth look at these issues from multiple perspectives from inside and outside the emerging church.

The Women in Ministry track, which was planted due to demand, addresses through three seminars issues of the heart, God’s design for women and men, and building consensus from both women and men on Christian leadership. A women’s luncheon rounds off the track.

In recent years, as greater numbers of women became ministry leaders, women sought to understand their roles better. The result has been parachurch organizations catering to this group of leaders, including new leadership conferences put on by Women of Faith and by Injoy Ministries.
