Sir Paul McCartney married American heiress Nancy Shevell at a ceremony in London today.

Shevell, who wore a white, long-sleeved wedding dress, is McCartney’s third wife after Linda McCartney and Heather Mills. The couple tied the knot at the Old Marylebone Town Hall register office.

The event was witnessed by only 30 guests at the register office.

Outside, hundreds of fans and journalists waited to see the newlyweds emerge. When they finally appeared on the steps, the beaming couple was showered with rose petals by their friends as they posed and waved to the crowd.

Then the couple made their way to the reception at their home in St John’s Wood in London. According to BBC, reporters asked the former Beatles star how he felt about tying the knot for the third time in which he replied, “Terrific, thank you. I feel married," adding, "I feel absolutely wonderful."

The wedding was attended by McCartney’s children, James, Mary and Stella, who designed the wedding gown for the bride.
