'Peaky Blinders' Season 4: Adrien Brody Joins Cast

Filming for the fourth season of the British period gangster drama "Peaky Blinders" is currently underway, and Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody has suited up and joined its cast.

Brody will be joining the show for its fourth season in an undisclosed role, according to Deadline. However, based on the statement of series creator Steven Knight, his part in the upcoming season will be a "formidable" one.

"He genuinely was the actor in my head when I wrote the part. I'm sure he will be a formidable presence in the world of the Peaky Blinders," Knight said.

BBC Drama Controller Piers Wenger also spoke about Brody's casting in "Peaky Blinders", saying:

"[He is] a world class actor famous for producing mesmerizing performances. I cannot wait to see him in action alongside the rest of Peaky Blinders' superb cast bringing Steven Knight's extraordinary writing to life on BBC Two."

The award-winning actor is known for his portrayals in films like "The Pianist" and "The Grand Budapest Hotel."

In "Peaky Blinders" season 4, Brody will be joining returning cast members Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby, the head of the family, and Tom Hardy as Alfie Solomons. Other core cast members include Helen McCrory, Joe Cole, Paul Anderson, Finn Cole, Sophie Rundle, Kate Phillips and Aimee-Ffion Edwards. Series regulars Natasha O'Keefe and Packy Lee also appear in the show.

The third season of the critically-acclaimed British period crime drama closed with an intense season finale and saw the fall and Tommy's betrayal of the Shelby family. In the upcoming season, the show will be a fight for survival.

Season 4 will open with Tommy receiving an enigmatic letter on Christmas Eve and realizes that the Peaky Blinders are in serious danger of annihilation. With the enemy closing in, he escapes from his country house and goes back to the streets of Small Heath, Birmingham where an intense and desperate fight for survival ensues.
