'Penny Dreadful' Season 2 News: Second Chapter to Open Up in 2015, 'There's No Escaping the Past'

Showtime's hit original Gothic horror series "Penny Dreadful" is undoubtedly one of the many successful TV shows to ever hit the small screens. With the entirety of its first season now available in Blu-Ray discs, fans are already salivating to know more details on what to expect when PD returns for the second time around next year.

The first teaser trailer for "Penny Dreadful" season 2 has been released earlier this month. It featured the voice over of the much-loved Eva Green who plays the character of Vanessa Ives.

Amidst the smearing of blood, Vanessa can be heard asking someone, "Do you believe the past can return?"

"More than that. It never leaves us; it is who we are," the enigmatic heroine was answered.

"God help us then," she said in return.

Reportedly renewed on June 4, 2014, the brand new ten-episode second season will once again showcase blood-shed and more occult chaos. More importantly, a demon from Vanessa's past will come back to haunt her.

Taking hints from the sneak peek, Cinema Blend speculated that the emphasis of scorpions, both presented in the video and in the promo poster, suggested a "mythological element" which is to be integrated in the season 2 storyline.

The website pointed out the goddess named Gaia who wanted to kill Orion, whom she learned has been planning to annihilate everyone. The deity then sent a scorpion to do the deed.

Fashion & Style, meanwhile, chimed in their theory suggesting that Vanessa will once again be possessed and her powers to resist the evil forces are yet to be tested again.

Created by John Logan, "Penny Dreadful" Season 2 is slated to return on air this coming 2015. Meanwhile, the crew is currently filming in Dublin, Ireland.
