People's Choice Awards Tonight, What to Expect

Wednesday has arrived, with the 39th People's Choice Awards scheduled to air on CBS at 9 p.m. EST.

The star-studded event will see appearances by "The Hunger Games" stars Liam Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence, and Josh Hutcherson, as well as country music darling Taylor Swift, among countless others.

Furthermore, Jennifer Aniston, Lea Michele, Emma Watson, and Katy Perry are expected to attend Wednesday's event in Los Angeles, Calif.

Meanwhile, actress Kaley Cucoco will host the 2013 People's Choice Awards while "Survivor" creator Mark Burnett will produce.

"I am so thrilled and fortunate to be once again producing this year's People's Choice Awards, Burnett told Broadway World. "Passionate and devoted fans are what make us successful and it is an honor to give them a chance to celebrate their favorites in entertainment."

The PCAs come just before the Golden Globes and the Oscars and offer audience members lighthearted humor while recognizing the best in movies, television, and music. Each award is selected through votes by fans, which- President of People's Choice Fred Nelson believes- makes it the most empowering gala of its kind.

"One of the many greatest aspects of the People's Choice Awards is that fans have a say throughout the entire process," Nelson was quoted by Softpedia.com. "From categories to nominees to winners, the people are in charge. We're excited to once again empower the fans to create the show they want to see on January 9."

Leading with the greatest number of nominations this year in Channing Tatum with four nods. Next, Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence tied for three nominations each.

This year, the awards show announced that Sandra Bullock would mark the very first recipient of the Favorite Humanitarian Award.

The Oscar-winning actress earned the award for her philanthropic efforts including at the Warren Easton High School in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.

Performances will include Jason Aldean, Christina Aguilera, and Alicia Keyes.
