'Person of Interest' season 5 plot news: Last season of series

With the CBS series "Person of Interest" soon returning with its fifth season, actor Michael Emerson shared spoilers to excite fans.

Emerson admitted that even he was surprised with the finale of the previous season. He said that he did not see the event happening until he received the scripts for the episode. Like the fans, he had no idea how season 4 was going to end. But he did share that the upcoming season will explore the issue of the machine being destroyed. He said, "Well that'll be the drama of the first part of season 5. We've shot a bunch of material already where that's the issue, because the argument: Did Mr. Finch cripple the Machine, and make it vulnerable to the likes of Samaritan? And can or should that be undone if the Machine can be revived? Should the Machine have a new set of core principles? And of course, Root will argue for one thing, and Mr. Finch will argue for another, but he may not argue as strenuously as he would have a couple of years ago, because the situation is so bad."

The previous season ended with Sameen Shaw leaving the Samaritan agents, presumably brainwashed. Meanwhile, Greer's men took Control as hostage, while Samaritan agents took down Elias and Dominic.
It was hinted that season 5 will be the last season of the series. During the San Diego Comic-Con, the cast and crew of Person of Interest were present for the show's panel. Jonathan Nolan, producer of the series, shared that it is hard to predict what will happen to the show; he can say that he is proud of the series. He explained that if the fifth season is the last, he hopes that the story will keep fans happy.
