'Person Of Interest' Season 5 Premiere Spoilers: Show Creators Offer Preview On Final Season

This week marks the beginning of the end for CBS' hit sci-fi drama TV series "Person of Interest." The show is now down to its last season. However, this doesn't mean that Season 5 will be short on action, drama, and suspense, because as what has been teased earlier, the final run will see a battle royale between the two artificial super intelligences – the Machine and the Samaritan.

The title of the first two episodes "Blue Screen of Death (B.S.O.D.)" and "Situation Normal, All F Up (SNAFU)" seem to suggest that things aren't exactly looking up for the humane-like ASI as well as for its human defenders. It does look like the team is losing the battle waged against the more calculated, more pragmatic, and fast-coping ASI, whose main goal is to destroy them all.

In an interview, executive producer Greg Plageman seems to hint to IGN.com that Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) will indeed work on rebuilding the program. The question now is, would it ever be the same like before?

"That's the conundrum that Harold Finch faces now as he tries to reconstitute the Machine," the EP answered.

"When he was confronted with its demise at the end of last season we saw that there was a genuine emotional connection. And we saw in Harold really just how much he was going to miss this thing that he created. And so a lot of this season becomes about 'Can he rebuild it?' Not only just how much the world would miss it but how necessary it is," the showrunner further explained.

Plageman added that Jim Caviezel's John Reese and Amy Acker's Root will be the two characters who will prompt Finch to work on their last ace against the Samaritan.

Meanwhile, The Futon Critic shared a synopsis on the Season 5 premiere called "B.S.O.D." As indicated, Reese and Finch will try to rescue the Machine's source code before the whole thing disintegrates. Root, meanwhile, will be on the run away from Samaritan's agents. Fusco (Kevin Chapman), on the other hand, will be faced with hard questions.

"Person of Interest" Season 5 airs Tuesdays, at 10 pm ET on CBS.
