Former News of the World and Daily Mirror Editor Piers Morgan Tuesday defended his former boss Rupert Murdoch as a man of integrity, and dismissed allegations he too was involved in a phone hacking scandal.

Morgan, who currently serves as a host on CNN, a rival cable channel to Murdoch’s Fox News, responded to Louise Mensch, a Conservative member of Parliament, who alleged during hearings Tuesday that Morgan may have also been involved in phone hacking during his time working for Murdoch.

British Lawmakers are investigating claims that News Corp.'s News of the World tabloid hacked phones and that journalists paid police for confidential information. The claims have led News Corp., controlled by Murdoch, to shut down the paper.

Mench claimed during the hearings today that Morgan wrote in his book The Insider, that he used phone hacking techniques to win scoops during his time as a newspaper editor.

"That MP just claimed I boasted in my book of using phone-hacking for a scoop," Morgan responded via Twitter. "Complete nonsense. Just read the book.”

“I’ve never hacked a phone,” he continued.

Murdoch also defended the integrity of his former boss.

"Strong finish by Rupert,” he wrote. "Love him or hate him, does anyone genuinely think he's a crook or condoned crime? Because I don't.”
