'Pitch Perfect 2': Hailee Steinfeld Talks About Being a Barden Bella

"Pitch Perfect 2" is about to premiere in a few weeks and fans can't wait to see how the Barden Bellas will fare as they sing their hearts out for global domination. For the sequel, a new member will be joining the acapella team, and Hailee Steinfeld has recently opened up about being a Bella and how taking on the role has inspired her.

The Oscar nominee said that she was already a big fan of the first movie and that being in the sequel was almost too good to be true.

"Every reference they made, I knew what they were talking about because I'd seen the movie a million times," she told Flare. "There was this strange feeling that I was already a part of it."

Steinfeld, who started getting homeschooled after the success of "True Grit," said that she never thought that she could survive in an all-girls' school.

"That's basically what this was," said the 18-year old. "I was able to go to set every day and feel comfortable. There was just this feeling that every imperfection and all your weirdness was accepted and embraced and wanted."

Salvador Perez Jr., the costume designer for both the first and second "Pitch Perfect" films, told the magazine that Steinfeld had no problems fitting in from the start.

"It was like a sorority," Perez said of the cast. "The girls really bonded on the first film … It was very refreshing how both Hailee and Chrissie (Fit, who plays new character Flo) came in and were instantly bonded."

Steinfeld said that the role gave her the freedom to showcase a talent that not too many people know about her: singing. She revealed that while the songs were recorded in the studio, she opted to sing live during a key scene.

"I realized that not only could I match myself lip-synching, but it was easier to go live," she explained.

Since filming "Pitch Perfect 2," the actress said that she's discussed recording an album.

"It's been thought about, so we'll see," teased Steinfeld.

"Pitch Perfect 2" premieres on May 15.
