'Pitch Perfect 3' News, Update: Negotiations Have Begun With Kay Cannon to Pen A Third Film
With a staggering and still counting box office sales of this year's "Pitch Perfect 2," reports are rife that Universal Pictures have plans to follow up the successful movie about the Barden Bellas.
A report from the LA Times said that "it should not be a big surprise at all" that Kay Cannon, the writer for the first two titles, is now in "early talks" to pen the third installment of the franchise.
The publication claimed to have gotten some information inside the studio that indeed a third "Pitch Perfect" film is "in development." The source however declined to add on the status of the negotiations.

The media outlet cited their interview with Cannon back in April in which she teased that "she had already kicked around some ideas for a third film."
Also rumoured is the return of co-star Elizabeth Banks who was a producer and director of the film series. It also remains to be seen if franchise star Anna Kendrick (who plays Beca Mitchell in both titles) will reprise her role. Rebel Wilson, on the other hand, had already expressed her enthusiasm to go back as the phenomenal Fat Amy in the third film although her contract only covered the first two films.
It also remains to be found out how the purported third film will run its plotline given that (spoiler alert) most of the main characters have already graduated in "Pitch Perfect 2."
Screen Rant dropped in their speculations saying that turning the film's attention to Hailee Steinfeld's freshman Bella character as well as the upcoming new group members "would keep the budget low." However, this could expectedly "alienate fans" who hoped to see more of Kendrick and Wilson's adventures.
