Pittsburgh Steelers vs Tennessee Titans is Thursday Night Football game of the week tonight, with the Steelers looking to build upon their recent impressive win against the Philadelphia Eagles. The game starts at 8.20 p.m. and can be watched online for free through live stream (details below).
The Steelers go on the road trying to record their second-straight win following their last-second win over the Eagles. In that game the Eagles went ahead with just 6.33 on the clock in the fourth quarter when Michael Vick gave a touchdown pass to tight end Brent Celek. That had looked to settle the game, but the Steelers came roaring back as quarterback Ben Roethlisberger led an impressive march down the field to set up kicker Shaun Suisham for the game-winning field goal.
Pittsburgh will be hoping that their backfield can come out firing better than early on this season. They have averaged less than 80 yards on the ground per game, and the Steelers' coaches will have been looking into that prior to tonight's game.
No doubt they will be welcoming the return of running back Rashard Mendenhall, who came back for the Eagles game following his long term knee injury that took place in January.
Meanwhile the Titans will be looking to bounce back following a beating down from the Minnesota Vikings. In their last game they were destroyed 30-7, making just 267 total yards in an embarrassing performance.
The Titans though could have a tough time, with the Steelers boasting the third best pass defense in the NFL.
Defensively the Titans are ranked in the bottom third of the NFL in both rushing and passing yards per game. Even more worryingly they have let through at least 30 points in every single game this season so far. Looking optimistically it could be said that they have faced some of the best offenses in the league, including the New England Patriots, the Detroit Lions, as well as the Houston Texans - all three rank among the top 11 in points scored per game in the NFL this season.
However, it would be all too easy to make excuses for the Titans' defensive failings, and put simply if they have not massively revamped how they approach their defensive game it could be another long evening for Tennessee fans.
