Plane Crash Filmed Inside Cockpit: 4 Survive Gruesome Accident in Forest (VIDEO)

August 13, 2012|9:42 am

A plane crash filmed inside the cockpit in the Bear Valley, Idaho region is garnering a lot of attention on the internet. The video is one of the first of its kind, and shows what happened when a small aircraft crashed on the way to a town in the Frank Church Wilderness of No Return.

The plane crash filmed inside the cockpit was captured by two Gopro cameras- one was in the front seat, and another in the back. At first, the four passengers seemed to be getting along well during the ride, but soon, something went terribly wrong.

After about a minute of attempting to get the plane to take off, the small aircraft managed to get to a height of nearly 70 feet in the air. However, they soon came down into a thicket of trees several minutes after takeoff, crashing and tumbling rapidly.

"After taking off we hit an air pocket that made us rapidly loose altitude, pushing us down into the trees," read the YouTube description under the video, which currently has nearly 800,000 views.

Several minutes of darkness is seen, followed by the men finding that they are all mostly unhurt, except for the pilot: he bled from the mouth and nose, and the other men turned him on his side. Fortunately, he will be fine.

"Miraculously, everyone survived. The pilot will make a full recovery and the rest of us escaped with superficial injuries and feel very lucky to be alive," wrote the men.

The crash was blamed on temperatures that day, which resulted in the plane's takeoff being extended past usual times.

"Due to warming temperatures there was an increase in density altitude and we had a hard time getting adequate lift," read the description.

Still, many YouTube users felt the accident was the pilot's fault. After the plane initially failed to take flight, some critics felt he should have aborted the takeoff.

"The pilot is an idiot for not aborting the takeoff and being too stubborn to put the plane down in the marsh instead of crashing into a forest," wrote MeFlyingAirplanes.

"Should have aborted the take off, or put it back down immediately after struggling to gain height and certainly his last chance was to put it down in the huge field before that forest of trees came up and were clearly seen," agreed Philly 5G.

Regardless of where the blame is shifted, the men in the video just seem grateful to be alive. Help arrived after the accident.

"Thank you to all the many individuals who eventually came to our aid and took the time and effort to help in any way they could. We appreciate you more than you know," the description reads.
