'Pokémon GO' Tips, Tricks 2017: Wisely Using the New Berries

Last week, Niantic Labs released the newest game patches for "Pokémon GO" on iOS and Android, and some of its highlights were the new Nanab and Pinap berries that add excitement in catching Pokémon. However, players need to come up with a good strategy for them to fully enjoy its benefits while not wasting them.

Basically, Nanab berries slow down Pokémon and resemble a banana but in a pinkish hue. While its power and newness is enticing, a CNet report advises not to completely replace the Razz berries with the Nanab berries since the latter are best used in specific situations.

It is highly recommended for "Pokémon GO" trainers to use the Nanab berries on Pokémon known for being wise dodgers. It will be a lot easier to catch a dodging Pokémon when they slow down. With the Nanab berries, they will be in a Poké Ball before they can even make a deceiving move to escape.

Naturally, not all Pokémon are hard to catch and not all are wild to chase. This makes it impractical for trainers to use Nanab berries every time they try to catch a Pokémon.

The second new type of berry is called Pinap that, as suggested by the name, looks like a pineapple. This berry gives trainers a double candy bonus in every successful catch.

While the strategy level with the Pinap berry might not be as crucial as with the Nanab, it is still more practical to use Pinap berries for an easy-catch Pokémon. Trainers must keep in mind that the double candy bonus only happens after a hundred percent successful catch.

After the updates went live last Thursday, the fight screen also obtained an additional dedicated berry icon on the lower left corner of the screen. It shows the active type of berry and how many of that kind a trainer still has.
