'Pokémon Go' Tips: What Players Need To Know About Unown

26 variations of Unown believed to be inside 'Pokémon Go' right now

Several of the newly added Gen 2 Pokémon in "Pokémon Go" are unique in their own ways, but none may be quite as different as the mysterious Unown.

For starters, there's more than just one type of Unown expected to be inside the game currently. Twenty-six variations of this Pokémon – one for each letter of the alphabet – are expected to be in the game right now, and that will matter a great deal to players who are looking to claim the Unown medal.

That's because the only way that completionists can obtain the highest level Unown medal is to capture all 26 variants.

Notably, there are really 28 variants of Unown that are actually part of the Pokémon universe, with the last two representing a question mark and an exclamation point, but for now at least, it looks as if these two are not in the game just yet, and given the medal requirements, it's unclear when or even if they may be added.

Unfortunately, even just encountering all 26 variants of Unown inside "Pokémon Go" right now may prove to be a challenge as they are reportedly quite rare.

While Unown is not region-exclusive, this particular Pokémon apparently does not appear in nests, according to a recent report from Pokémon Go Hub. This means that players will likely have to do a lot of traveling in order to find these Unown variants.

Once players do find a variant of Unown in the wild, SlashGear notes that it is not overly difficult to capture, but given its rarity, players may want to go ahead and use their best Pokeballs for it just to make sure they don't waste the opportunity they have in front of them.

The variations of Unown will likely be among the most memorable Gen 2 additions, and "Pokémon Go" players are reportedly also hoping right now that they will be memorable for the challenge they present and not because they are almost impossible to find.
