'Pokemon GO' Update News: Ruby And Sapphire Pokemons Coming Soon

Ruby and Sapphire Pokemon will soon be making their way to Pokemon GO. This is according to new wallpaper art from the game which features a number of Generation 3 Pokemon.

For weeks fans have been speculating that Niantic will use the upcoming Halloween event to launch the new Pokemon. Now, a datamine of the game's recent patch garnered a new wallpaper art showing Dusclops, Shuppet, Banette, Duskull, and Sableye.

The Gen 3 Pokemon are going to be part of a "Lavender Town" themed "Pokémon GO" Halloween event. Niantic has yet to reveal the details of the event although it is expected to be announced shortly.

Out the Pokemon seen in the wallpaper art, four are part of the same family. Duskull evolves into Dusclops, Snuppet evolves into Bannette, which means there are at least three confirmed trees total. While there is a possibility that the full roster of 135 will be added, there is also a chance that only "spooky" Pokemon will be added to match the event's theme.

If the former proves to be true, Gen 3 will add a lot of new Pokemon to the game compared to Gen 2. They are also an arguably better batch with more well-designed originals and no evolutions of Gen 1 or 2 Pokémon.

There is a chance Niantic will do a "soft" launch to coincide with the Halloween event releasing only a fraction of Gen 3 Pokemon. After all, they release Gen 2 separate launch, not directly tied to a holiday.

Whatever the case, the addition of new Pokemon to the game will definitely bring more excitement to the game. With winter fast approaching, releasing Gen 3 Pokemon prior to the holidays means way more Pokémon for players to catch in the wild before it starts getting totally freezing.

"Pokemon GO" is available to download in the App Store and Google Play.
