'Pokémon Go' 'Water Festival' Live; Increases Encounter Rates for Several Water-Type Pokémon

'Pokémon Go's' 'Water Festival' event will last until March 29

A new event is currently taking place inside "Pokémon Go," and it provides players with better opportunities to encounter different water-type Pokémon.

Known as the "Water Festival," this new event will now make it easier for players to find Magikarps, Squirtles and Totodiles while they are walking around.

The different evolutionary forms of Magikarps, Squirtles and Totodiles will also appear more frequently, thanks to the event, so players who may have had trouble seeing them before may want to try locating them now.

Apart from increasing the encounter rates for the aforementioned Pokémon, players who head to areas where they typically appear may also have more opportunities to find water-based creatures that were initially seen in the Johto region.

Developers even teased that the elusive Lapras may be one creature that players will have an improved chance of seeing now that the "Water Festival" event is taking place inside "Pokémon Go."

Players should also know that the "Water Festival" event will draw to a close on March 29, so those who are planning to collect water-type creatures will want to act fast.

A new Magikarp Hat is now available for players to claim inside the game as well.

In related news, an update for the mobile game was also released just recently and it introduces a new feature that should make it easier for players to acquire evolution items.

Players who want to take advantage of this new opportunity to get additional evolution items will need to keep up their "First PokéStop of the Day" streak. Specifically, they will need to keep this streak going for at least seven days. Players who are able to successfully maintain their streaks will then be rewarded with a random evolution item.

More news about other additions coming to "Pokémon Go" should be made available in the near future.
