'Pokémon Stars': Studio's Search for Staff Possibly for New Game on Nintendo Switch

Game Freak, the developer of "Pokémon" game titles, has recently been spotted opening up several new job positions for a console game, and reports speculate these might be for the earlier rumored 'Pokémon Stars' for the Nintendo Switch.

A previous report by Eurogamer in November 2016 shared that a new version of "Pokémon Sun and Moon" might be in developer Game Freak's pipeline for the Nintendo Switch. "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" are the company's recent creations that were launched on the Nintendo 3DS last year.

According to Eurogamer, "multiple sources" mentioned that the said Nintendo Switch game has the internal codename "Pokémon Stars" and that it might be released anytime this year.

Meanwhile, reports have spotted several job offers that Game Freak has posted through the Japanese version of Indeed.com. For one, Game Freak is looking for a "new title character modeler." The job description further adds that anyone who will be hired has to "create deformed toon-like person, monster, item model based on assistant setting/setting material of data specification."

The other job that Game Freak is offering is for game designers. This job posting gives more hints at a possible new "Pokémon" game since the job description cites "it is an opportunity to be involved in the development of the worldwide popular RPG!" To be specific, the job is said to include working on character models for a console game that is under development.

On the other hand, a recent interview with The Pokémon Company president Tsunekazu Ishihara might have also given a hint about the rumored Nintendo Switch game.

NeoGAF user JoeM86 shared the said interview which he translated. He says Ishihara "mentions at how Pokémon has traditionally been on a portable device for battle & trade with friends outside rather than on a home console but notes how Switch is a home machine that can be taken out, which makes it slightly different to a portable machine with bigger size and stronger technical specifications."
