Pokemon X and Y Styled Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Will Receive StreetPass and Secret Bases

The upcoming Pokemon X and Y styled remakes Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby will come with some interesting new features known as StreetPass and secret bases.

Secret bases will function as customizable spaces where players will be able to set up mazes, traps and battle rules. They'll be able to share them with other Pokemon trainers using 3DS StreetPass or QR code.

Players will be able to encounter other trainers at these Secret Bases and invite them to become Secret Pals. The Pals can interact, battle and receive support during their adventures with one another. They will also have special skills to use that include the sharing of decorations or making Pokemon Eggs hatch faster. With more Secret Pals, players will have access to even more skills.

StreetPass will bring new communication features to the series.

The Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire versions for the 3DS were first announced for a November launch a few months ago. The company also released a trailer for the games.

"Announcing Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems! Prepare for an epic adventure exploring a world filled with Pokemon!" wrote the company.

Nintendo went on to explain the origins of the Ruby and Sapphire versions.

"Pokemon fans first enjoyed Pokemon Ruby Version and Pokemon Sapphire Version when it launched in 2004 for the Game Boy Advance. Now a whole new generation of Pokemon fans will experience the dramatic storyline that unfolds in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire," the statement read.

A remake of the Emerald version called Pokemon Delta Emerald is also rumored to be in the works and could be released shortly after these two.
