Porsha Stewart has filed a legal response to her estranged husband Kordell's divorce filing and the reality TV star is intent on receiving child support despite his reported reluctance to pay up.
On March 22 the former NFL star reportedly left Porsha, 31, blindsided after filing for divorce to end their almost two-year marriage. He reportedly explained why he is refusing to pay spousal support to TMZ.com.
"[She's] an able-bodied person, earning income and is capable of supporting herself," Kordell reportedly told TMZ.
Porsha, who recently revealed that she was "disappointed" with Kordell's divorce filing, appears to have a different view. The "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star has not only requested spousal support but her attorney, Randall Kessler, has reportedly asked that his client have exclusive use of the family's Atlanta home.
Kessler, who was also fellow 'Housewife' Nene Leakes' divorce attorney, holds the view that Porsha's marriage to Kordell, 40, set her back professionally. He claims that his client quit her job for two years while the couple was married and that she also sold her businesses in order to help raise Kordell's son Syre from a previous relationship. Kordell and Porsha do not have any children together.
The pair's divorce could potentially turn nasty as Porsha claims Kordell had promised to work on their marriage shortly before he abruptly filed for divorce. Her rep recently confirmed that she feels "misled" by Kordell.
"Mrs. Stewart is disappointed about her husband's recent filing for divorce. Mrs. Stewart had held off on filing for a divorce herself and remained committed to the marriage because Mr. Stewart promised to work on the marriage with her," Porsha's rep told Yahoo OMG!
"Instead, he misled her and she found out about the filing in the media. Mrs. Stewart hopes to resolve these personal issues privately with the support of her family, friends and strong faith," the representative added.
