Ronaldo's first goal comes from a header off a corner kick. The second goal was scored by Nani, who got a setup pass from Ronaldo. After several silent performances, Ronaldo surely stepped up in this crucial semi-finals game, fulfilling his role as captain.

Cristiano Ronaldo hugs Gareth Bale, his team-mate with Real Madrid, after the game. Ronaldo said, "I congratulated them on their run. They had an amazing run. They were the shining star here, the revelation team."

Wales definitely put up admirable performances during this tournament, with the most notable one being their victory over Belgium in the quarter finals.

How France got to the Finals

Home team France made it to the finals by beating defending champions Germany 2-0. Observers note Germany's unusually imprecise performance in the semi-finals, and France capitalized. Germany weaved closer and closer to French goal keeper Hugo Lloris, but the defense prevailed. Germany had 65% of possessions but two big mistakes was all it took for the French team to prevail.

Didier Deschamps, France's team manager, said, "It was a very tough game. Germany really made us suffer. But we never gave up. And we suffered together – the players on the pitch, the fans in the stand and watching at home. And that saw us through."

France's first goal comes from a penalty kick by tournament top scorer Antoine Griezmann. He also scored the second goal off a touch pass near the goal; a score that sealed the victory.

Ronaldo vs Griezmann

The UEFA Euro 2016 final is all about two Madrid-based stars. Griezmann, the tournament top scorer, has 6 goals in the tournament. France needs him to score again; the team hasn't lost when the Atletico Madrid striker scored.

With a win, Griezmann can get his revenge against Ronaldo's Real Madrid who won the Champions League Final last May, 2016.

Football history favors France over Portugal, as Portugal has not won against France in their last 10 games.
