Sep. 10 Powerball Drawing Recap
The Powerball jackpot prize has increased to $222 million from last week's $205 million as no one was able to match all six numbers in the last drawing. According to the official Powerball website, there were two players who managed to match all five white balls. They each won $1 million since they missed out on increasing their winnings to $2 million for not opting to play with the Power Play option. The tickets were purchased in Kansas and California.

There were more than 800,000 winners in the last Powerball drawing. More than $7 million in non-jackpot prizes was won last Sep. 10, Saturday.

July 30 $487 million Powerball Jackpot Claimed by NH Family
The $487 million Powerball jackpot drawn last July 30 was claimed by an anonymous family from New Hampshire. According to Yahoo, lawyers who represented the family were the ones who claimed the prize because the owners wished to remain unknown. The winning Powerball numbers for July 30 were 11, 17, 21, 23 and 32, and the Powerball is 5.

New Hampshire lottery officials say that the winning family is a local resident of the area. They opted to keep their identities unknown because they are reportedly planning to use their winning Powerball prize of $256 million for charitable activities. The NH family has donated $100,000 to a certain charity this week and their attorneys say that their clients will donate more.

According to the outlet, the $100,000 will reportedly go to "End 68 Hours of Hunger", a charitable group that operates food pantries in Raymond, Epping and Deerfield and the Raymond Coalition for Youth. It is not known how much the Powerball winners will donate and to which institutions they will donate it to.

The next Powerball drawing will be on Sep. 14, Wednesday at 11PM ET. Powerball is playable in 44 states of the US, including the US Virgin Islands and Washington, D.C. Each Powerball ticket costs $2 and the Power Play option costs an additional $1.
