The Powerball jackpot prize for Sept. 21, Wednesday has reset to $40 million after a player won the $246 million grand prize in the last drawing.

The winning numbers last Sept. 17, Saturday were 9, 19, 51, 55 and 62. The Powerball number was 14. The winning ticket was reportedly sold in Atlanta and the winning prize of $244 million was considered to be in the top 5 biggest Powerball jackpot that was won this year.

There was only one winner for the jackpot prize in the last Powerball drawing. However, no one was able to match five white balls to win the highest non-jackpot prize of $1 million last Saturday.

There was one winner who matched four white balls and the Powerball. The default prize for the match is $50,000, but the ticket had the Power Play option which multiplied their winnings four times to $200,000.
The winning ticket belongs to Jerry Lambert and Aaron Britt from Asheboro, North Carolina who came to claim their prize this week at Raleigh, Fox 8 noted. The Powerball ticket was bought at the Ready Mart in their area.

According to the official Powerball website, there were a total of more than 800,000 winners last Sept. 17. The total number of non-jackpot prizes that were won in the last drawing was $7,541,198. Since the Powerball jackpot prize was won, the grand prize of the lottery was reverted back to $40 million with a $26.8 million cash value.

$246 Million Powerball Jackpot Winner Not Yet Known
The sole winner of the $246 million in the last Powerball drawing has not yet come forward. The winning ticket was apparently sold in Brookhaven, Georgia, 11 Alive reports.

Lottery officials recommend for jackpot prize winners to be cautious and take measures to protect their winnings. Before claiming the Powerball prize from any lottery, it is advised to sign the back of the ticket and hire financial professionals to handle the money.

In the state of Georgia, there is an allotted time of 180 days for winners to claim their Powerball jackpot prize. The winner has only until March 2017 to claim their winnings.

The next Powerball drawing will be on Sept. 21, Wednesday at 11PM ET. The lottery is playable in 44 states and each ticket costs $2 and an additional $1 more for the Power Play option.
