'Powerless' News: Vanessa Hudgens Seen in New NBC Teasers [See Photos]

"High School Musical" star Vanessa Hudgens plays the role of Emily Locke in a new series set in the DC Extended Universe.

The upcoming NBC series "Powerless" is expected to bring a new vibe to the DC Extended universe.

NBC recently released teaser for its newest comedy series "Powerless." Produced by Ben Queen, creator of "A to Z," the series will be focused on an insurance company set in the same world as the DC films. However, the insurance company was said to be one of the worst insurance companies in the country, which will bring some comedic moments to the show.

According to Screen Crush, the lead of the series will be Vanessa Anne Hudgens, who is best known for her role in Disney's "High School Musical." She will play a character named Emily Locke, who is described as an insurance claims adjuster who is keen on helping others. With that, she will be working to help others while villain and superheroes are present in the world.

As reported by Hypable, the synopsis for the series read, "It's when she stands up to one of these larger-than-life figures (after an epic battle messes with her commute) that she accidentally becomes a cult 'hero' in her own right … even if it's just to her group of lovably quirky co-workers. Now, while she navigates her normal, everyday life against an explosive backdrop, Emily might just discover that being a hero doesn't always require superpowers."

Along with Hudgens, the series will also star Alan Tudyk as Del, who will be Emily's boss. Danny Pudi from "Community" will also be joining the show as Teddy while Christina Kirk from "Girls" is expected to play the role of Jackie. Teddy and Jackie are speculated to be Emily's co-workers.

Unfortunately, it was confirmed that big superheroes such as Batman and Superman will not be making appearances in the upcoming series. However, fans can expect a lot of references to the iconic heroes.

There has yet to be any details regarding the release date for "Powerless."
