'Pretty Little Liars' season 6B release date, plot spoilers: New season, new mystery, new villain

Last season, "Pretty Little Liars" ended with a shocking twist as the identity of "A" was finally revealed. A is actually Cece Drakes. The finale explained everything from how Cece became A to why Cece targeted the Liars and to who killed who.

The next season will feature a time jump and fast-forward to five years later. Showrunner Marlene King spoke about the upcoming season. "They're all in very different places. I don't want to give you all the answers because that's part of the fun of the story when we find them. They're still friends, but like what happens after you get out of college, you don't get to see your friends all the time. So there's a reason they have to come back to town and they're bringing some secrets back with them, too," she said.

Spencer now has bangs and may have gotten into politics after graduation. Mona's mother has also gone into politics. Hanna is engaged, but whether or not she is engaged to Caleb remains to be seen. Emily had a terrible college experience, which she was talking to Toby about. Aria might have a job as a journalist or writer and her friend Ezra now has a moustache. Ali has gotten married and is now a teacher. She also stayed behind to take care of her sister Charlotte.

Fans of the show can expect a new mystery in the brand-new season as a new villain is unleashed and revealed. "There's a new mystery. There's a little bit of old mystery dabbled in there, but not a lot. It's mostly new mystery. There will be a new Big Bad in their lives and a new mystery to solve," King said. Furthermore, King added that fans will find out who actually killed Mrs. D in the finale.

"This last mystery, we've saved the best for last. There's one last very, very big, twisty-turvy mystery," she said.

The show is set to return in January.
