'Pretty Little Liars' Star Joins Cast of 'Inherent Vice'

Sasha Pieterse, best known for her starring role of Alison DiLaurentis on ABC's Family hit drama "Pretty Little Liars," will be joining the cast of the upcoming movie "Inherent Vice."

"Inherent Vice" is written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and produced by Warner Brothers, Variety reports. The film takes place during the 1970s and follows a drug and alcohol addicted detective, Larry "Doc" Sportello, on his search for his missing girlfriend.

Pieterse is joining a cast full of stars, including, Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Joaquin Pheonix, Maya Rudolph and Josh Brolin, among many others.

The "Pretty Little Liars" star will be playing the role of Japonica Fenway in the Anderson picture. The story for the movie comes from the lengthy detective novel of the same name, "Inherent Vice." The novel was penned by Thomas Pynchon and published in 2009, according to Variety.

Originally from South Africa, Sasha Pieterse has been acting since she was a child. She landed her first big role at the age of six, booking a recurring role on the Warner Brother's television show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." The 6-year-old Pieterse was in eight episodes of the show.

She joined the cast of "Pretty Little Liars" when the ABC Family drama started in 2010 and many consider it her breakout role. The show is currently in its fourth season and is one of the most popular shows on television.

"Inherent Vice" has already started production and will hit theaters in 2014, according to IMBD.com. With a cast full of stars and a story based on a successful book, it's fair to expect big things from the upcoming Warner Brothers' production.
