Hollywood celebrities have been left star-struck by the visit of Prince William and wife Kate to California, with A-list stars clambering to attend events on the royal schedule.

Prince William has certainly charmed those who have been able to get a ticket to attend events, and told an audience that he is “not a good loser” as he took part in some polo banter before a match in California Saturday.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a private luncheon at the Foundation Polo Challenge. When a speaker mentioned that the prince should return to the Santa Barbara Polo Club to play again in the future, he jokingly retorted that he was more likely to return if the result in the upcoming match was favorable for him.

“In terms of returning, that’s completely dependent on the results,” the prince said, to the warm laughter of his wife Kate and the listening celebrities.

He then said firmly: “I am not a good loser.”

A host of celebrities from Los Angeles flocked to attend the event. Hollywood stars Jennifer Love Hewitt, Rob Lowe, Nicollette Sheridan, Joe Jonas, Zoe Saldana, and Rosario Dawson all were in attendance.

Celebrities across the U.S. have themselves been star-struck by the arrival of the British royal couple. US Weekly News Editor Natalie Thomas reported: "'A-list' actors are clamoring for invites to these events to meet royalty, to get a chance to say 'hello' to William and Kate.

“This is a big deal for everyone, and you see even the highest level of stars really wanting a piece of it."

Prince William continued to charm the audience saying, “The prospect of being able to let loose this afternoon is wonderful for me. That is what sport is all about, being it polo, football - sorry, I mean soccer - or whatever your preferred sport is.”
